Milan Zver

Milan Zver ( born May 25, 1962 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian politician of the SDS.

Zver took his university degree, a master's degree and his doctorate in social sciences. He started in 1987 as an assistant professor and research associate. He was advisor to the Slovenian government in 1992, In 1994 he took on this task in the Municipality of Ljubljana. In 1998 he began as a lecturer at the University of Maribor. He belongs to the World Anti -Doping Agency.

When SDS was Zver Board Member, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the party council. He was a member of Ljubljana from 1998 to 2002 and the Slovenian Council of State from 1998 to 2003. In 2004 he was elected to the State Assembly. From 2004 to 2008 he was Minister of Education and Sport. In the first half of 2008, he chaired the EU Council of Ministers for professional training, youth and culture. In 2009 he was elected to the European Parliament. In 2012 he takes for the office of President of Slovenia.

Zver belongs to the Group of the European People's Party, the Christian Democrats. He is a member of the Committee on Culture and Education and the Delegation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee EU-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. As a deputy, he is in the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China.
