Miles T. Granger

Miles Tobey Granger ( born August 12, 1817 in New Marlborough, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, † October 21, 1895 in North Canaan, Connecticut ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1889 he represented the state of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Already in 1819 came Miles Granger with his parents to Canaan in Connecticut. There he attended the public schools; then he studied until 1842 at Wesleyan University in Middletown. In 1843 he moved to Louisiana for two years. After studying law and its in 1845 were made in the State of Mississippi admitted to the bar, he began practicing in Canaan. The legal profession he practiced there from 1847-1867.

Politically, Granger was a member of the Democratic Party. In 1857 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Connecticut; 1866-1867 he was in the state Senate. In addition to his legal practice was Miles Granger 1849-1867 judge in a probate court. Between 1867 and 1876 he served as judge of the Superior Court of his state. After that, he was from 1876 to 1887 Supreme Court of Connecticut.

1886 Granger was in the fourth electoral district of Connecticut in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1887 the successor of Edward Woodruff Seymour. Since he resigned in 1888 to run again, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1889. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Miles Granger was (State Referee ) in 1893 state auditor. This office he held until his death in 1895 in North Canaan.
