Military Merit Cross (Mecklenburg-Schwerin)

The Military Merit Cross was founded by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II of Mecklenburg " ... for outstanding evidence of bravery in the campaign against Denmark in the years 1848/49 " on August 5, 1848. His award was extended to individuals by decree of December 24, 1870, who had not participated directly in combat. In this case, the cross on the red band of the House Order of the Wendish Crown was worn. According to the Regulation on 1 May 1871 was also awarded to ladies who had distinguished themselves during the war.

Appearance

The religious character is made of bronze and has the form of the Iron Cross. On the front, the words FOR AWARD IN WARS stand. On the back is located in the upper arm of the cross, the Grand Ducal crown, in the middle of the initials FF ( Frederick Francis ) and the lower cross arm the year.

Carrying method

Was underpinned II class at a ponceauroten band with light blue and yellow edge stripe on the left chest. Women decorated the award to a ladies loop. The First Class was worn as a cross slot.

The last ceremonies were completed until the end of May 1929.
