Military of San Marino
Since the territory of San Marino is completely surrounded by Italian territory, the defense in case of war from Italy is guaranteed. However, to symbolize the independence of the state maintains a small army - the Sammarinese military forces.
Structure
The armed forces are divided into:
- Comando Superiore delle Milizie ( High Command )
- Compagnia delle Milizie Uniformata (regular armed forces / militia unit ): takes part in the official ceremonies and provides support in the order of service for special occasions. Banda Militare ( Military Band )
- Artiglieria Compagnia di ( artillery unit )
Compulsory military service
There is no conscription, but all citizens between 18 and 60 years can be called in an emergency.
