The Brazilian Military Ordinariate is a Military Ordinariate in Brazil and responsible for the Brazilian Armed Forces.

History

The Military Ordinariate in the Federative Republic of Brazil looks after members of the Brazilian armed forces of Catholic religious affiliation pastoral. It was Pope Pius XII. built on 6 November 1950. After a mutual decision between the Holy See and the Republic of Brazil, the seat of the Brazilian Military Ordinariate was in Rio de Janeiro and was later moved to Brasilia. From the announcement of the papal bull of 6 November 1950, the Archbishop of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, Jaime Cardinal de Barros Câmara, the first military bishop of Brazil (military ) was inaugurated.
