Milly-la-Forêt

Milly- la -Forêt is a commune with 4765 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the region of Ile- de -France, about 50 kilometers south of Paris. It lies on the river and is part of the Ecole Evry Arrondissement in the department of Essonne. François Orcel since March 2008 Mayor of Milly- la -Forêt.

  • Chapelle Saint -Blaise -des- Simples (12th century) This chapel at his last place of residence Jean Cocteau had imagined, that it might be grave monument later. On October 11, 1963, he died in Paris and was buried in the Chapelle Saint Blaise in Milly- la -Forêt. At the funeral, the body set up by his artist friend Arno Breker bronze effigy in the presence of Jean Marais and many mourners was placed in the chapel. A small version of the Cocteau - portraits is in the Cocteau Collection Museum of European Art.
  • Le Cyclop is a living museum of Tinguelyschen universe, a monument of 20th century contemporary art. The work, begun in 1969, is from the collaboration of fifteen artists - including works by Niki de Saint Phalle, Daniel Spoerri, Paul Wiedmer, Arman, César, Jean -Pierre Raynaud, Eva Aeppli, Jesus Raphael Soto, Bernhard Luginbuhl, Seppi Imhof, Rico Weber, Larry Rivers, Philippe Bouveret, Pierre Marie Lejeune and Jean Tinguely. In 1987, Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle Le Cyclop the French State paid.
