Milo Đukanović

Milo Djukanovic ( listen / i, Cyrillic Мило Ђукановић; ? * February 15, 1962 in Nikšić, SR Montenegro, Yugoslavia ) is a Montenegrin politician and, since December 2012 ( again) the Acting Prime Minister of Montenegro. He was President of the Republic of Montenegro (1998-2002) and several times (1991-1998, 2002-2006 and 2008-2010) Prime Minister of his country. He is also chairman of the party since 1997 the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro.

Biography

After studying economics Djukanovic stepped into the 80s in the League of Communists of Yugoslavia, where he remained until the collapse of the multinational state as a Central Committee member. Subsequently, he became a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists ( DPS ) and 1991 Prime Minister of Montenegro in Montenegro. After the intra-party power struggle against Momir Bulatović he finally succeeded also in the presidential campaign in 1998 just enforce against him. Since it constantly gave stalemates between pro-independence supporters and supporters of the political community with Serbia as of this date, he decided again to run for the office of prime minister, which he was also successful in the 2002 parliamentary elections.

As Šturanović announced his retirement in early 2008 for health reasons, Djukanovic returned to the office of Prime Minister. Parliament confirmed on 29 February 2008, his nomination by the president. His party reached at the following parliamentary elections on 29 March 2009, more than 50 percent of the vote and won for the sixth time the general election in Montenegro. He promised his followers to want to lead the country now as quickly as possible into the European Union and NATO.

On 21 December 2010 Djukanovic announced his resignation as Prime Minister. As a successor, he proposed to the Minister of Finance Igor Luksic date. After his election by the Montenegrin Parliament in the official handover took place on December 29, 2010. Djukanovic but remained chairman of the DPS.

After his party again scored in the parliamentary elections of 14 October 2012, to become the strongest force, Djukanovic was appointed a second time as Prime Minister of the country on December 4.
