Milton Jiménez

Milton Jiménez Puerto ( born November 8, 1961) is a lawyer and was of 27 January 2006 to 3 January 2008, the Foreign Minister of Honduras. He is a member of the Partido Liberal de Honduras ( PL) of President José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, which he joined in 1985.

Puerto Jiménez studied law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras and Spain, Costa Ricam, Italy and Brazil. He specializes in criminal law and human rights.

As a politician, he is particularly committed to human rights, especially the rights of women, children, and urban poor population.

He has performed for the Instituto de Derechos Humanos Interamericano ( Inter-American Institute of Human Rights ) studies on gender discrimination in employment, criminal, and family law in Central America.

He has appeared as a witness and advocate of victims to the Corte Interamericana de Derecho Humanos ( Inter-American Court of Human Rights ).
