Minamoto no Shitagō

Minamoto no Shitagō (Japanese源 顺; * 911, † 983 ) was a Japanese waka poet, scholar and nobleman of the early Heian period. He was the compiler of the Wamyō Ruijushō, the first, still preserved dictionary of the Japanese language, which was organized by semantic keywords. For his outstanding poetic ability, he is one of the 36 immortals of poetry.

His posthumous poems are published " collection Minamoto no Shitagō " (源 顺 集, Minamoto no Shitagō Shuu ) in the. Some scholars ascribe the authorship of the Taketori Monogatari and Utsubo Monogatari.
