Ministry of Defence (Spain)

The Ministerio de Defensa de España ( Ministry of Defense of Spain) is the Ministry of the Kingdom of Spain responsible for national defense. It manages the Spanish armed forces of the Air Force, the Navy and the army. Current Minister is the non-party Pedro Morenes in the Partido Popular (PP ) (People's Party of Spain ) formed government under Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy (PP).

Objectives

The goal of the Spanish Ministry of Defence is the preparation and development and the implementation of defense policy of the Kingdom of Spain. It is also responsible for the administrative management and administration of the Spanish armed forces. It is to be compared primarily with the Federal Ministry of Defence ( FMOD ) in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Organization

The management of the Ministry of Defence as the authority rests with the Secretary of Defense.

The leadership of the armed forces to be the responsibility of the Jefe del Estado Mayor de la Defensa ( jemad ) associated with the German General Staff of the Bundeswehr ( GenInspBW ) or the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff ( JCS ) is to be compared in the United States during the commander in chief of the Spanish armed forces of the king in his capacity as head of state. This is comparable to the U.S. president, who is the commander in chief of the U.S. armed forces.
