Ministry of Home Affairs (Japan)

The Jichi - shō (Japanese自治 省, literally " Ministry for self-government ."; Engl Ministry of Home Affairs ) was a Japanese Department with cabinet rank. It existed from 1960 to 2001 and was responsible for regional self-government, in particular the prefecture Finance, as well as among other civil protection and the organization of elections.

The 1949 established as a branch of the Office of the Prime Minister " authority for local self-government" (地方自治 庁, Chiho - jichi -chō ) was founded in 1953 with the Electoral Supervisory Commission (选 挙 管理 委员会, Senkyo - kanri - iinkai ) merged and the " authority for self-government " ( jichi -chō ) upgraded with cabinet rank.
