Minnesota State Highway 280

Minnesota State Route 280 is a running in a north-south direction State Road on the western border of Ramsey County, Minnesota, which is a total of 6.4 km long. The Highway is a short connecting route between Interstate 94 in St. Paul, Minnesota, and Interstate 35W in nearby Roseville and extends along its entire length in the County. It forms an important link because the intersection between the two Interstate highways in the vicinity of the center of Minneapolis is not a full cloverleaf.

Highway 280 north of I -94 to East Hennepin Avenue / West Larpenteur Avenue, a road running, with the entrances and exits to and from Hennepin Avenue and Como Avenue are actually a bit too narrow. Further north there are two intersections with traffic on County Road B, respectively Broadway Street Northeast. The connection MN-280/I-35W is not complete, because of the northward moving traffic from the MN -280 can not turn towards the south road leading to the I-35W to use without surrounding streets. The same applies in the opposite direction between the north lane of the I- 35W and the Südfahrbahn the MN - 280th

Originally an extension was planned to the west of Highway 280, south of the intersection with I-94 to Minneapolis in and as Freeway approximately along the 28th Street and continue west to France Avenue South should have led. This freeway was never built and the ramp stub at the intersection I-94/MN-280 were demolished in the early 1980s.

On his way between St. Paul and Roseville, the highway passes through the small town of Lauderdale. MN -280 passes built here, so that a good view of Minneapolis is in the West against a slope, especially for southward -moving vehicles.

The junction between Interstate 35E and Interstate 94 in the center of St. Paul is not a complete road cross. Ayd Mill Road has therefore, although not highway-like expanded and with no direct connection to I- 94, a similar function for the Highway 280

Because of the collapse of the I-35W Mississippi River bridge on 1 August 2007 Highway 280 is signposted as the official detour route through the Minnesota Department of Traffic and temporarily transformed into a full-fledged freeway, by the interchanges County Road B, Broadway, Walnut and Roselawn were locked. I-35W crosses the Mississippi River to a new bridge as part of the I -94.
