Minotauri

Minotauri was a Finnish doom metal band from Äänekoski, which was founded in 1995 and disbanded in 2007.

History

The band was formed in 1995 by guitarist and singer Ari Honkonen, who had previously been employed by Morningstar. In the first occupation is more Morningstar members found. It was recorded a first demo the same year. By 1997 it became quiet around the band. This year came Viljami Kinnunen drummer to the band. It was followed by the demo Axe Attack. After a friend took over the bass, followed in 1998, the next demo Metal Magic. Then Tommi Pakarinen joined as bassist. In summer 1998, the band held its first appearance and a live demo has been released. The band wrote new songs, held a short tour of Finland, and in 1999 published the live demo Doomed to Live. After the demo Devil Woman was published in January 2000, the Group reached a deal with the German label Iron Bonehead Productions. In the same year the band recorded the single Pain of Life / Violence and published these in the same year, the edition was limited to 500 pieces. In addition, the band also took the song My Way new on that had already been listed on Devil Woman, to publish it on the compilation At The Mountains of Madness II of Miskatonic Foundations. After that, the band wrote to other new songs and took over in 2001, the EP Doom Metal Invasion on. Prior to the publication of the phonogram in spring 2002 on Iron Bonehead Productions, the band had held a small tour with Reverend Bizarre and Spiritus Mortis. The last concert of the tour was also recorded and released as a live album under the name Funeralive. In the summer of 2003, the group recorded their self-titled debut album, released in the summer of the following year at Black Widow Records. The recordings consisted of eight new songs, as well as a bonus, the single Pain of Life / Violence and the EP Doom Metal Invasion. For the recording of the album, there was also the song Black (Magic ) Triangle, which has been used for a split release with Reverend Bizarre. The publication was released in the spring of 2004 with Metal Coven Records. In 2007 came the second album II, before the group to exist even in the same year.

Style

In II the band play loud Grigoris Chronis of metal- temple.com Doom Metal with influences from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands like Witchfinder General, Saint Vitus early, Cathedral, Pentagram and Candlemass. The bass is distorted while the vocals sounded messy. The production had been based more on Heavy Metal and remember to Black Sabbath and Pagan altar. The doom metal sound heard on so old that other bands of the genre, such as Solitude Aeturnus and Count Raven, would sound too modern compared.
