Minzier

Minzier is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Minzier is located at 550 m above sea level. M., about 19 km north- northwest of the city of Annecy (air line). The village is located on a sloping hillside to the west in the valley of Flon over a wide valley, east of the Montagne de Vuache, in Genevois.

The area of ​​8.79 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Genevois. The main part of the area occupied by the basin of the Fornant (right side of the creek Usses ) and from its source Bach Flon. To the east, the municipality's area covers over the slope of Minzier to the adjacent elevation and north-eastwards to the wide ridge of the Montagne de Sion. Here is 750 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Minzier.

To Minzier next to the village itself includes various hamlet settlements and farmsteads, including:

  • Prévy (510 m above sea level. M. ) on a terrace at the eastern foot of the Montagne de Vuache

Neighboring communities of Minzier are Jonzier - Épagny and verse in the north, and Cernex Chavannaz in the east, and Marlioz Contamine- Sarzin in the south and Chaumont and Savigny in the West.

Attractions

The village church of Minzier received its present form in the 19th century. On the slope north of the village stands the Château de Novéry, which originally dates from the 13th century, but was rebuilt in the 15th and 17th centuries. The modern architectural design, this one built according to plans by Pascal houses man in 1968 building.

Population

With 890 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Minzier one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 541 residents counted in Minzier ). Economy and infrastructure

The village is located off the major thoroughfares, yet is within easy reach of the secondary road D992, which runs from Saint -Julien -en- Genevois to Frangy. Further road links exist with Savigny, Contamine- Sarzin, Marlioz and Chavannaz. The nearest links to the A40 motorway is located at a distance of around 13 km.
