Miodrag Belodedici

Miodrag Belodedici ( born May 20, 1964 in Socol, District Caras -Severin ) is a former Romanian football player at the position of the Libero and current official. He belongs to the Serb minority in the Banat. In the Yugoslav sports press, he is out with the family name Belodedić.

Early Career

Miodrag Belodedici began in 1978 at Minerul Moldova Nouă to play football. In 1981 he was appointed to the junior national team of Romania. That's why he moved to Bucharest in the same year the club Luceafarul Bucureşti. There he was discovered by the then President of Steaua Bucharest.

Career

Clubs

With the change to Steaua Bucharest began in 1983 Belodedicis professional Fußballkarierre. When still a young player, he won the European Cup with Steaua the national champion. In 1988, he fled to Yugoslavia and joined FK Red Star Belgrade. The Romanian Football Federation procured then a match suspension, which was not lifted until the end of 1989. In Serbia, Belodedici developed further and in 1991 for the second time European Cup winners ' Cup.

His desire to remain until 1995 when Serbian record holder, did not go through the Balkans war in fulfillment. After Robert Prosinečki Belodedici left as the second performer in 1992 the Belgrade club and went to Spain to Valencia. There his power was becoming stronger, so he moved to Real Valladolid after two years. There, however, he failed to get into the starting eleven, and so he went after only one year to Villarreal.

At Villarreal, he often fell out due to injury, which Belodedici and the club's management were dissatisfied, so he played from 1996 for CF Atlante in Mexico City. There, he managed the footballing upswing and so he remained until 1998, before moving back to Steaua Bucharest, where he end his career in 2001 by winning the doubles. Overall Belodedici appearances for his clubs 459 games in which he scored 27 goals.

National

His strengths could Belodedici usually make in the Romanian national team to the test. In his long career he took part in both the 1994 World Cup as well as at the European Championships in 1996 and 2000. Overall, he played 55 international matches for the Romanian national team and scored at least five goals.

Later career

After Miodrag Belodedici 2001 had ended his career, he was active for the Romanian Football Federation. Since 22 November 2005, he is responsible for the children 's and youth teams of the Romanian Football Federation.
