Mira Bhayandar - ( Marathi मीरा भयंदर, Mira Bhayandar ) is a city in Thane district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Geography
Mira Bhayandar - located 40 kilometers north of Mumbai on National Highway 8 The area is located on the island of Salsette on Vasai Creek, a tributary of the River Ulhas. Together with the cities of Navi Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan - Dombivali, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi and Vasai - Virar, it forms the agglomeration of Greater Mumbai.
Southeast of the city lies the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
Population
2001, the city had 520,388 inhabitants ( census 2001). 2011, counted 814 655 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). About 53 % of the population are male.
