Mirek Topolánek's First Cabinet

Topolánek government I was the Government of the Czech Republic on 4 September 2006 to January 9, 2007 after the parliamentary elections of 2006. From 11 October 2006 she acted as acting as they did not find the recognition of the House of Representatives.

Background

President Václav Klaus instructed the candidates with the most votes fraction of the ODS Mirek Topolánek (81 MPs) to form a government on 16 August 2006. Along with the announced coalition partners ( Christian Democrats and Greens) reached exactly 50 percent of the seats, so a stalemate between the political camps emerged. Because the left-wing parties CSSD and the KSČM were added together also account for 50 percent of the seats.

Since the Social Democrats did not tolerate the notified coalition government to Topolánek decided for a government from members of the ODS and non-party ministers, who was sworn in by the President on September 4, 2006.

But even for these Topolánek government could find no consent. The government was rejected by Parliament on 3 October 2006. In accordance with the constitutional requirements Topolánek had to offer the president his resignation, which was done on October 11. In accordance with Article 62, paragraph d) the Cabinet remained only provisionally until January 9, 2007 in office until his second government was sworn.
