Miroslav Holeňák

Miroslav Holeňák ( born February 10, 1976 in Zlín) is a Czech football player.

Club career

Miroslav Holeňák began playing football than eight years at TJ Gottwaldov. In the 1993/94 season, the midfielder was used for the first time in the first team. Quickly Holeňák was able to establish a regular place and was committed in 1996 by Petra Drnovice.

After four years in Drnovice Holeňák changed for 14 million crowns to Slovan Liberec and had major share of the championship win in 2002. Moreover, he was appointed to the Czech national team. In Liberec Holeňák was converted from a midfielder to a defender.

The end of 2003, it looked as if Miroslav Holeňák switch to Sparta Prague, ultimately he opted for its biggest rivals Slavia Prague. In the 2004/05 season, he completed 22 games in which he scored a goal, in 2005/ 06 it was used only 17 times and scored two goals.

After the expiration of his contract Holeňák moved in summer 2006 free transfer to the Austrian Bundesliga side SV Mattersburg. After only one year Holeňák returned to the Czech Republic and signed with Slovan Liberec.

National

Miroslav Holeňák debuted on 27 March 2002 in the Czech national team in the 0-0 draw against Wales in Cardiff. He had his second outing on April 17 of that year in the 0-0 draw against Greece in Ioannina. For the time being the last time for the Czech Republic played Holeňák on 21 August 2002 in the 4-1 win against Slovakia in Olomouc.

For the match against Austria on October 11, 2003 Miroslav Holeňák was indeed in the squad but did not play.
