Miss Spain
Miss Spain is the German term for an annual national beauty contest in Spain. Officially called competition and winner of Miss España (formerly referred to as Señorita España ). There is the event since 1929. However already took 1927 dancer and actress Maria Casa Juana and 1928 Agueda Adorna at the Miss Universe in Galveston (Texas ) as representatives of Spain in part. Which way they qualified, is not known.
Starting in 1936, attended the Spanish Civil War and the subsequent dictatorship of Francisco Franco Caudillo for decades of interruption. Only in 1960 did the General and head of state soften to allow the competition again.
Nevertheless participated in the following years even candidates for Spain at the Miss Europe in part: 1936 Antonia Arquès 1937 Ambarina de Los Reyes and 1938 Isa Reyes. Where and how they qualified, is not known.
