The head of the group is initially given an order, he hears about a tape. At the end of the job description he had to destroy the tape, or it destroyed itself Quote:

Then the squad leader sets up his team, which usually consists of the same members. At a meeting at the home of the chiefs approach is discussed. In the first season the team usually consisted of the Head brig, the beautiful model Carter, the transformation of the artist's hand, the electronics expert Collier and the muscle man Armitage.

During the episode followed the crowd, unfold the complex plan of the team. The end of almost every episode follows a pattern: The team gathers after the successful completion of the order and disappears undetected.

In 1988, Paramount tried to order the series from ABC to revive, but the new edition could not build on the success of the original series and was discontinued during the second season after a total of 35 episodes. In this remake starred with Peter Graves, who was also seen in the original version, the American actor Phil Morris, whose father Greg the technical genius Barney Collier embodied in the original.

Music

The title tune and partly also the background music, the series was written by Lalo Schifrin. It evolved to become a classic TV tunes and was resumed for the later movies.

Exceptional on the title theme is that it was composed in 5/4-Takt what its special appeal mattered. This beat is rarely used because it is extremely difficult for the composer to produce ( the so-called Groove ) in 5/4-Takt a rounded composition. In addition to the theme song for the series " Mission: Impossible take " is the only song that was written in 5/4-Takt and still popular, "Take Five".

The peculiarity of the 5/4-Takts was then not preserved in the composition to the title tune of the movie series. There the melody line was transferred to an ordinary 4/4-time.

Fifth phase synchronous - DVD - dubbing

  • 2006 saw the series on DVD. However, from the 3rd season to the previously shortened sentences Reserve left in the original, which alternate partially synchronized and original sentences, which becomes very disturbing.
