Mithridates I of Parthia

Mithridates I (Persian مهرداد Mehrdad [ meɦrdɔ ː d]; * to 195 BC; † 138/137 BC), also Arsaces VI. Energetes called Philhellene ( friend of the Greeks ) was from 171 BC until his death King of Parthia. He came from the Arsakidengeschlecht and was the son of King Phriapatios. Mithradates extended the Parthian empire by the conquest of western Iran, the Medes and parts of the Greco- Bactrian kingdom. 141 BC he defeated the Seleucid Demetrius II As a result of this victory reached Mesopotamia under Parthian rule.
