Mithridates of Cius

Mithridates was in the 4th century BC, a Persian dynast.

In the historical literature, he is often regarded as the ruler of the city of Kios on the Marmara Sea, but this is not standard source to substantiate. Mithridates is only mentioned in one entry in Diodorus. It states that have the death of Mithridates the satrap of Phrygia, Ariobarzanes, taken over the kingdom. Diodorus added this information in the context of the early Satrapenaufstandes in the year 362 BC ( Molon was archon in Athens ), but whether Mithridates died in that year and whether the satrap Ariobarzanes has been his son, can not be explicitly inferred. Likewise, it remains the identity of his " Kingdom " is unclear.

The satrap was Ariobarzanes BC was called by his own son, also Mithridates ( Mithridates of Cius? ) In the year 362, betrayed and executed it by crucifixion.

Perhaps the heir of Ariobarzanes Mithridates was identical with that same name companions of Prince Cyrus († 401 BC) or that same satrap of Cappadocia and Lycaonia which are known from the Anabasis of Xenophon.
