Mitja Ferenc

Mitja Ferenc ( born March 21, 1960 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian historian and currently a professor at the University of Ljubljana.

His study of history at the University of Ljubljana, he finished in 1985 with the diploma. In 1999 he completed his PhD. Since 2001 he is employed at the Faculty as a lecturer and since 2007 as a professor.

Among the research areas of Ferenc include Health of the Yugoslav partisans in World War II, the Gottscheers Germans and other German communities in Slovenia and the mass graves in Slovenia from the period immediately after the Second World War.

2004-2006 he was chairman of the Slovenian historian Association and 1990-2004 Member of the Commission for hidden mass graves in the Slovenian Government.
