Mitlödi

Mitlödi is a former municipality in the canton of Glarus in Switzerland.

The village was under the Glarus municipality reform on 1 January 2011 with the communities Betschwanden, Braunwald, Elm, Engi, Haslen, Linthal, Luchsingen, Matt, Ruti ( GL), Schwanden ( GL), Schwändi, and Sool, the new municipality of Glarus Süd merged.

In 1939, a picture of the church or Schäflibrunnens was determined to the village coat of arms.

Geography

Mitlödi between Glarus and Schwanden. The village parts Mitlödi and Horgenberg lie on the left, Ennetlinth on the right side of the Linth, which flows northwards here. The village is südexponiert and is located between two gullies on prehistoric landslide masses. The municipal area extends into steep slopes left the Linth to the front Glärnisch to 2327 m asl and right of the river to the Chrisegg 1987 m above sea level. From the municipality is 32.1% agricultural land, 56.1 % is forest, 7.4% is built-up area and 4.5 % is unproductive.

The resident population is divided into 457 households.

Policy

The SP has 59.3 % of the votes, 40.7 % of the votes going to other parties.

History

The village was in 1300 from the three hamlets low - Mitlödi, top Mitlödi and Horgenberg. Until 1395 the town was the monastery Säckingen dutiable. In the middle of the 15th century Mitlödi presented in the person of Konrad Rietler the Landammann. In 1527 was Mitlödi venue of the rural community.

1528 sat in Mitlödi the Reformation. The village church was consecrated in 1725. The steeple was after a fire in 1752 by the famous architect Hans Ulrich Grubenmann a slim helmet.

In the second half of the 18th century, it came through production and trade with tables and with cotton as well as by the production of cotton products in the publishing system to an economic boom. In the 19th century a large textile printing company was founded. This production line still exists today in addition to the production of drugs, margarine, tools and machines.
