In the middle of Europe - German history is a documentary series of the producer Rüdiger Proske on European history and German history in particular from the year 1989.

Background
The series was produced by the project studio Rudiger Proske GmbH and was directed by Tobias Hoffmann and Gondrand de Bruycker. The Hartmut Boockmann ( Medieval expert), Heinz Schilling ( historian ) ( expert of the early modern period ) and Hagen Schulze ( Modern expert) also helped with the production. In the opening credits and closing credits was stressed that the project from various large companies - Hoesch, Bosch and others - was supported.
The historical series was first shown in 1989 on the television Sat.1 and has not repeated. The last episode was reproduced in 1990. Among the programs the viewers could order booklets. These booklets were later reissued under the title The German history in four volumes.
This books was reissued for the millennium under the title The German history in four volumes. The last volume has been updated for the new edition, covering the period from 1961 to 2000.
The series was temporarily expelled from the German film center on video.
