Mixcoatl

Mixcoatl ( Cloud Serpent, also Camaxtli ) is in the mythology of the Aztecs and Toltecs of the God of the Hunt and the Milky Way. Mixcoatl appeared in various forms, such as yellow-red- striped man with deer or rabbits face, with a black mask or as a cloud. Similarly, divers are Mixcoatls functions: As a deity of the Milky Way, he personified the souls of dead, that have become stars for warriors, brought the fire into the world and gave mankind the knowledge of flints.

He is sometimes another form of the god Tezcatlipoca, as when he made the first fire, by (rotating around its axes ) used the firmament as a drill. He is the son of Cihuacoatl and the father of Quetzalcoatl by Xochiquetzal and of Huitzilopochtli by Coatlicue.
