MÅ‚odnik

Süssenrode ( Süßenrode before 1945 ;), Polish Młodnik, is a village in the powiat of Opole Opole, Poland Voivodeship. As mayor's office, it belongs to the rural community Murow.

Geography

Süssenrode located 27 kilometers north-east of Opole in Upper Silesia region. Together with the north-west neighboring Plümkenau it is surrounded by pine forests.

History

The colony Süßenrode was founded in 1773 as part of the Frederician colonization in the large forest areas north of Opole. Süßenrode goes along with the nearby colonies Plümkenau and Neuwedel back to the initiative of the War and Domain Plümicke Council and the chief forester Süßenbach and von Wedel, after which the three new settlements were named. In Süßenrode 17 colonists jobs were created, which were dependent on sideline due to the barren soil, as supplying the nearby ironworks or the removal of the stricken timber here - in Süßenrode there was a royal forester.

The Royal Prussian Commissioner Johann Hartmann Schuch visited in May 1772 new settlement Süßenrode and counted for its Frederician colonists directories from Silesia 51 colonists: 15 men, 14 women and 22 children, six of them orphans. All residents were from Hesse, among others, from the places Biedesheim, Ostheim and Büches. The houses in the colony were not ready, also many colonists sick and not able to clear the forest surrounding the colony.

Süßenrode belonged to the Royal Rentamt coupling in the district of Opole. 1861 were 70 residents of Catholic and Protestant denomination 224. Together with Neuwedel Süssenrode belonged to the evangelical parish Plümkenau. The Catholic inhabitants were the parish to Old Budkowitz since 1827.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on 20 March in 1921 voted in Süssenrode with 219 votes unanimously to remain with Germany, where the place also remained.

After the Second World War, the village was renamed Młodnik and placed under Polish administration. Since March 2009, the German place names as officially in the bilingual community Murow.
