Mobile-Banking

The term mobile banking ( m-banking or mBanking also called ) is the banking transactions referred to, which takes place with the help of mobile devices such as mobile phones or PDAs. Here there is the possibility of mobile banking through special applications / widgets to make (small installed programs ) or directly access banking applications on the Internet through a mobile browser.

Mobile Banking consists of three applications

  • Mobile account management ( Mobile Accounting )
  • Mobile account management ( Mobile Brokerage )
  • Mobile Financial Information ( Mobile Financial Information Services )

Since information services provide the necessary basis for decisions on transactions, account or custody account management services can be offered only if a certain minimum number of information services is included in the price. Information services, however, can also act as an independent module, ie are offered without allowing the transaction services.

From a sales perspective Mobile Banking enables banks an additional distribution channel. That is the reason why mobile banking in the multi-channel strategy of many banks plays an important role.

The Technical Committee 68 " Financial Services " of the ISO approved the drafting of the standard series ISO 12812 " Mobile Financial Services" in October 2010 a New Work Item Proposal. As part of this series of standards specifications for the mobile banking should be established normative.

Mobile banking is not the same as mobile payment. Although mobile banking applications allow sometimes the implementation of remittances, however, it is compatible with most currently available on the market applications not possible to exchange money via the mobile phone directly.
