Modal is a commune in the Norwegian Fylke Hordaland. It is bordered on the north by the municipalities Høyanger and Vik i Sogn, to the east by the municipality Voss, on the south by the municipality Vaksdal and to the west by the municipalities and Lindas Masfjorden. The administrative center is located in Mo.

Economy

The municipality derives its main income from the extraction of energy from hydropower, which is produced by various reservoirs. The geographic location in a very mountainous and rainy area and the low population density mean that modal was by the energy sales to the wealthiest municipality in Norway.
