The Mogami in Yamagata Prefecture
The Mogami (最 上 川Japanese, -gawa ) is a river in Yamagata Prefecture in Japan.
Geography
It is 224 km long and has a catchment area of 7040 km ². Its average flow at the mouth is 437 m³ / s
He is considered together with the Fuji and the Kuma as one of the three rivers with the fastest flow in Japan.
The river rises in the southern Yamagata Prefecture and flows northward, at Shinjō he swings to the west and flows into the Sea of Japan Sakata.
The river was once an important transport route for local products such as safflower and rice in the Kansai region.

Mogamigawa is also the name of the anthem of Yamagata Prefecture, which was written by Emperor Hirohito. The Imperial Japanese Navy had a cruiser named Mogami.
