Mohamed el-Bisatie

Muhammad al- Bissati (* 1937 in Gamalija at Port Said, Egypt; † July 14, 2012 ) was an Egyptian writer.

After studying economics, he worked for many years as government auditors. He lives as a writer in Cairo. His literary work includes eleven novels and eight collections of short stories. Houses behind the trees is his first novel in German translation. In addition, there are other stories in anthologies of Arabic literature. For his entire narrative works Muhammad al- Bissati was established in 2000 by awarding in Dubai Sultan Uwaiss Prize, the " Arab Nobel Prize ' awarded.
