Mohamed Elshorbagy

Mohamed Elshorbagy, alternative spelling Mohamed El Shorbagy, ( born January 12, 1991, Alexandria ) is an Egyptian squash players. It was in 2011 with the Egyptian national team World Champions.

Life

Mohamed Elshorbagy grew up in his native city of Alexandria before he attended Millfield School in Somerset in England. He then studied mechanical engineering at the University of the West of England in Bristol.

Career

Already in the junior Mohamed Elshorbagy was extremely successful. In 2008 and 2009 he won against Aamir Atlas Khan and Ivan Yuen, respectively the world champion title at the U19 Junior. The following year, he already won his first title on the professional tour in India and since then constantly climbed in the world rankings. With the Egyptian national team, he was in 2011 in Paderborn Team World Champion. At the World Championship 2012 in Doha Mohamed Elshorbagy reached the final for the first time. The following year he was able to reach the semi-finals at the World Championships. In the Qatar Classic in 2013, he defeated the incumbent at the time world champion Nick Matthew and won for the first time a tournament of the World Series. Its highest ranking in the world ranking was third place in February 2014.

Mohamed Elshorbagys younger brother, Marwan Elshorbagy is also squash players.
