Mojo Mendiola

Mojo Mendiola, even Mojo Trebron and Norbert Mendiola, ( born January 12, 1954 in Kempen ) is a German author, music journalist, African- American studies, photographer and painter.

Life

Mendiola grew up in Dusseldorf and studied German and English - American there. Artistically, he began in the 1970s as a singer / songwriter for folk and blues, and spent a lot of time, among other things in Amsterdam and London. In 1981 he went to New York City where he scored next to Suzanne Vega to the winners of the " New York Songwriters in Concert " competition in Gerde 's Folk City in the same year. Under the guidance of LeRoi Jones / Amiri Baraka, he deepened his studies in African- American literature and history.

From the stage, he moved back in 1983. Since then he has regularly worked as a writer and concert photographer for various music magazines and newspapers. The Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College Chicago has taken him into his Directory Of Scholars. He wrote the children's book " Palle Puzzlebüx and the children of the open city " and the satire band " Helmut lights passage explains Germany ".

Since 1999 he has been active primarily as a visual artist.

In 2007 he moved to Krefeld. In 2008, he co-authored with Günter HolthofF the book "50 Years of Jazz Keller Krefeld ". He continues musikjournalistisch active and present regular exhibitions of his digital painting.
