Molfsee

Molfsee is a municipality in the district of Rendsburg -Eckernförde in Schleswig -Holstein and is bordered to the south of the state capital Kiel. It consists of the three districts Molfsee, Rammsee and Schulensee. The municipality performs the administrative affairs of the Office of the same name.

Geography and transport

The municipality is situated on the southern outskirts of Kiel on the Federal Highway 215 from Kiel to Neumünster and on the Eider. It consists from north to south from the three districts Schulensee, Rammsee and Molfsee (village). History

Molfsee was first mentioned in 1238 in a charter of Count Adolph IV of Holstein. It consisted initially of twelve hooves, but was reduced during the 14th century by the plague seven hooves.
