The National Park is 180 km ² and includes large forest, heathland and grassland areas as well as lakes and coastal areas. The hills of Mols Hills gave the area its name. The highest elevation is the Agri Bavnehøj with a height of 137 meters.

Nature and Landscape

The landscape was formed by the last ice age, the abandoned sand and stone materials make today's hill. Today one finds a varied landscape here, which offers many plants and animals a livelihood. This is straight up to the light and heat vulnerable species that live on the dry, sandy, sunny slopes. These are plants such as the Pasque Flower, Campion and immortelle flower. Also, butterflies and many other insects as well as cold-blooded animals like lizards and adders can be found here.

History

Grave mounds occupy the early settlement of the area. Even in the stone age they began to clear the existing forest here. Through the fire economy, the continued logging and grazing of the area, there were around 1688, only three smaller forests, while the rest were used as pastures, partially used as farmland or moorland.
