The Monastery of Santa María de Huerta ( Horta ) is a former Cistercian abbey and since 1930 a Trappist in the municipality of Santa María de Huerta in the south of the province of Soria in Castile and Leon on the border with Aragon in Spain, in the valley of the Rio Jalon on the link from Madrid to Zaragoza in 764 m height.

History

The monastery was founded in Fuentelmonge at the instigation of King Alfonso VII of Castile, daughter of the monastery, founded in 1137 Berdoues in France from the filiation of primary Abbey Mori Moon Cántabos in 1162 moved to the banks of the River Jalon was built since 1179. The monastery was declared in 1882, the Monumento Nacional ( Bien de Interès Cultural ).
