Height determination

In 1935, the height of the monk with 4'099 m was determined. This number is often still be found in the literature. 1993, however, the result obtained by Luftfotogrammetrie an altitude of 4'107 m. Then the value was corrected on the map of Switzerland. With a measurement by GPS, it is found in 1997 a height of 4'109, 4 m; and with a renewed air photogrammetric measurement from 1999 even resulted in a height of 4'110 m. These new measurements were not taken into account on the official maps. For these different values not only measurement errors are responsible, but also the fact that the monk has a crest of firn, which has grown in recent years.
