The Monegasque franc is the former monetary unit of Monaco. It is divided into 100 centimes and has the ISO 4217 code MCF. Since a monetary union between Monaco and France is, the Monegasque franc parity pegged to the French franc and legal in France as means of payment. History

The franc was introduced in 1795 as the currency of France and arrived during the French occupation ( 1793-1814 ) in Monaco in circulation. For the first time 1837/38 coins were minted with the portrait of Prince Honoré V of the state mint in Paris for the Principality. The series consisted of eleven coins in the denomination value of 2.5 centimes to 40 francs.
