Moneglia

Moneglia ( Ligurian Munéga or Monegia ) is a municipality in the province of Genoa with 2855 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

The community is located near the Petroniotals on the Riviera di Levante. The distance to the Ligurian capital Genoa is about 55 kilometers.

The village is located in one of two mountain projections limited bay and is surrounded by rich Mediterranean vegetation. To the west of the promontory Punta Moneglia (also expressed Monte Venino ), to the east of Punta Rospo. While the first is largely unaffected, the Punta Rospo is built from various residential homes which cover an area up to settlement Lemeglio.

The municipality together with Casarza Ligure, Castiglione Chiavarese and Sestri Levante the mountain community of Val Petronio.

Since 1990 Moneglia is the Blue Flag awarded each year for the exceptionally high quality of the beaches, the sea water, the service facilities and the environment in general. On 29 November 2005, the environmental management system of the municipality was certified according to ISO 14001.

According to the Italian classifications for seismic activity Moneglia was assigned to Zone 3. This means that the municipality is in a seismically active zone little.
