Monie Captan

Monie Captan Ralph ( born May 28, 1962 in Monrovia ) is a Liberian politician, professor and editor of a newspaper. He was from 1996 to 2003 Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Charles Taylor.

Life

Born in Monrovia Liberians Monie R. Captan is the son of a Lebanese immigrant and businessman, his mother is Liberian. Monie R. Captan spent his childhood and youth in Monrovia, he first completed a commercial education.

Monie R. Captan was one of the youngest professors of the University of Liberia, as the Liberian president Charles Taylor as "Minister of Presidential Affairs ," then as Foreign Minister ( 1996-2003 ) brought him in 1996 in his cabinet; Monie R. Captan was one of the few ministers who did not belong to the National Patriotic Front of Liberia ( NPFL ) Taylor. He followed Momolu Sirleaf in office.

After the Civil War he took up teaching again and is Professor of International Relations at the " Ibrahim Babangida School of International Relations" at the University of Liberia. The businessman and newspaper editor was elected on 16 March 2010 as President of the Liberian Chamber of Commerce.
