Monika Zehrt

Monika Zehrt, divorced Landgraf ( born September 29, 1952 in Riesa ) is a former German athlete who had belonged in the 1970s, a world leader in the 400 -meter run.

Life

Monika Zehrt won for East Germany at the 1972 Olympics in Munich two gold medals - in the 400 -meter run when she defeated Rita Wilden scarce, and the 4 x 400 - meter relay ( with Dagmar Kaesling, Rita Kühne and Helga Seidler ). At 19 she is up to the present the most recent 400-meter Olympic champion ( as of 2004).

Twice, in 1971 and 1972, she was elected to the 4 x 400 - meter relay to DDR Team of the Year. After a short and successful career in which she set up, inter alia, four world records, she ended her sports career in 1974. She studied foreign trade and worked in senior positions with a furniture company. She has two sons ( Andrew, Steffen ).

Monika Zehrt competed for the SC Dynamo Berlin and trained with Inge Utecht. In her playing days, she was 1.68 m tall and weighed 56 kg.

In 1971 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze and 1972 silver.
