Monkey Punch

Monkey Punch (Japaneseモンキー·パンチ, Monki Panchi ) is the pen name of the Japanese comic artist ( mangaka ) Kazuhiko Katō (加藤 一 彦, Katō Kazuhiko, born May 26, 1937 in Hamanaka, Hokkaido ). His most famous work is the manga series Lupin III, which was also implemented as an anime.

Inspired by the comics of MAD magazine Monkey Punch began his career as a cartoonist in a library books and magazines on specialized publishing house. Here he first worked under his pseudonym加 东 一 彦, which also Katō Kazuhiko means, but is written with different kanji. In 1965 he published Playboy Nyumon (プレーボーイ 入門) under the new pseudonym Eiji Gamuta (がむた 永二, Gamuta Eiji ). A year later he changed his stage name to " Monkey Punch ", which he only wanted to temporarily use.

Monkey Punch has drawn a total of 60 different manga, anime, and related spin-offs in the years 1962-1997. He scored his greatest success with manga and anime Lupin III, which was released in 1967 in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Manga Action. In addition, include the 1980 published Anime Cinderella Boy and Musashi Gundoh ( MUSASHI -GUN道- ) from 1997 to his known works.
