Mono Inc. is a German rock band from Hamburg, which was founded in 2000 and is musically associated with the gothic rock. The name derives from the term monomania and the word incorporated from.

Band History

The start time

In 2000, Miky Mono ( vocals), Martin Engler found (drums), and Carl Fornia (guitar) together, who had already played in the band until 1997 Wild Thing and from 1998 to 2000 under the name Mono 69, together, and established the formation mono Inc.. Initially threes, came in early 2003 Manuel Antoni added as bassist. In the same year, their debut album Head Underwater appeared as self- disclosure. In 2004 Head Under Water was re-released by NoCut and the single Burn Me coupled out what Mono Inc. made ​​a wider public for the first time.

2006, vocalist Miky the band, his place was taken over by Martin Engler. From April 2009 Mono Inc. went on extensive tours with Subway to Sally and ASP with over 40 concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

27 August 2010 was followed by the EP Come Down, a song that was originally written by the band Bush. In October of the same year Mono Inc. launched her first headlining tour. The first part was played with changing support bands, the second with [ soon ] as a solid opening act. In the same year accompanied Mono Inc. as support the band Unheilig together with Apoptygma Berzerk on their anniversary tour. Ex - singer Miky died in October 2010 at a paragliding accident.

Commercial success

Become accessible through their tour with Unheilig a larger audience, which published on 18 March 2011 fifth album Viva Hades rose as the first release of the band at # 50 on the German album charts. After a label change to SPV / Rookies & Kings, the single After The War from the eponymous album was released May 25, 2012, released on 17 August as part of the Summer Breeze festival. The song is a cover of Gary Moore in 1989; Moore released the album also sold under the same name. These were followed by Arabia and the Double Single Wave No Flag / From The Ashes. The Song From the Ashes was performed live at the World Championship boxing fight in the cruiserweight division between Yoan Pablo Hernández and Troy Ross on 15 September 2012 in the Stechert Arena in Bamberg, including invasion of Hernández.

On March 22, 2013 was released with My deal with God first, a single from the album Nevermore. At the same time was the re-release of three albums Temple of the Torn, Pain, Love & Poetry and Voices of Doom Collector's Cut edition, which contain only the original songs in addition unreleased songs and live versions. Published on June 21, 2013 Mono Inc. with Heal, Heal blessing another single from the album, which is completely healthy as the first song in German. The reactions of the music press on the piece, the new interpretation of a well-known nursery rhyme, were mixed. Since the play was musically more mainstream heavy, comparisons were made to Unholy and Oomph! drawn, both of which would have taken a swing at mass-compatible music in their band history.

The album Nevermore released on August 9 via NoCut / SPV and rose in the first week of its release, # 3 on the German album charts. The third single from the album No Way Too Far followed on August 16, while the official video already on August 8, its video premiere on Bild.de. Cooperation with the Bild newspaper provoked many fans initially negative reactions. Martin Engler subsequently published a statement in which he made it clear that cooperation is a means to an end is to make as many people aware of the thematized in the video problem of domestic violence.

Music and style

Musically Mono Inc. filed between alternative and dark rock. On their albums, there is a serious, sometimes somber mood; often repeated themes are loss and separation. At concerts, the band performs on typical scene in dark costumes with matching make-up, although the outfit partially varied during the concerts themselves.

In addition to the main instruments of the band members in the form of electric guitar, bass and drums come to concerts other instruments used. Among other things, Martin Engler uses information from acoustic guitar and piano.

Although the band hails from Germany and to a few concerts abroad also occurs primarily there, the texts of Mono Inc. were all held in English, until the appearance of the first German-language songs Heal, Heal blessing. On their seventh studio album Nevermore more pieces published in German language, which was added by fans as mixed press. Singer Martin Engler is at the same time responsible for the lyrics.
