Monroe Henry Kulp

Monroe Henry Kulp ( born October 23, 1858 in Barto, Berks County, Pennsylvania, † October 19, 1911 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1895 and 1899 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Monroe Kulp attended the public schools in Shamokin, and then the State Normal College in Lebanon (Ohio ). He finished his education at the Eastman Business College in Poughkeepsie (New York). He then worked in Shamokin in the lumber business, in the production of bricks and in the Kühleisproduktion. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1894 Kulp was in the 17th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Simon Peter Wolverton on March 4, 1895. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1899 two legislative sessions. In this time of the Spanish-American War was from 1898. In 1898 Kulp was not nominated by his party for re-election.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he again worked in the timber industry. In addition, he was active in various other industries. In June 1900 he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia in part, was nominated to the President William McKinley for re-election. Monroe Kulp died on October 19, 1911 in Shamokin, where he was also buried.
