Monroe is a city in Union County, North Carolina, United States. It is the county seat ( county seat ) and the Monroe Regional Airport, which is about five miles north-west is the city. The population is 26.228. The city has a Gesamtflaäche of approximately 64.4 km ². (As of 2000, according to United States Census Bureau)
