Montagny-les-Lanches

Montagny- les- Lanches is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Montagny- les- Lanches is located at 610 m above sea level. M., about 8 km southwest of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends a scenic location in the foothills at an inclined slightly to the east and north slope on the high plateau of the eastern Albanais, between the valley of Fier in the north and the Semnoz ( part of the massif of the Wallows ) in the southeast.

The area of ​​4.38 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The only weak area in relief occupies the plateau of Montagny, which is drained by the Ruisseau du Marais de l' Aile north to Fier. To the west, the municipality's area extends to the wooded slopes of Les Lanches, on 729 m above sea level. M. is achieved the highest elevation of Montagny- les- Lanches.

History

Montagny is first mentioned in the 15th century. In 1935 the community name in Montagny -les- Lanches was renamed to avoid confusion with other places named Montagny.

Attractions

The village church was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.

Population

With 622 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Montagny- les- Lanches one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1901 were still 247 inhabitants counted in Montagny -les- Lanches ). Since the mid-1960s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded again.
