Monte Hacho

The Monte Hacho ( στήλη in ancient Greek Ἀβίλη Abile stele, Latin Mons Abila ) is a 204 meter high mountain, which towers over the Spanish city of Ceuta on the North African coast. The Monte Hacho situated on a peninsula, the Península de Almina, at the Strait of Gibraltar towards Gibraltar and is sometimes called the southern of the two Pillars of Hercules called, with most sources identify the Jebel Musa purpose.

On the summit of Mount Hacho is a fort, the Fortaleza de Hacho, which was originally built by the Byzantines and later expanded by the Moroccans, Portuguese and Spanish. Today it is used by the Spanish army. At Monte Hacho also include the Monastery Ermita de San Antonio and a monument of the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco.
