Montherod

Mont Herod is a municipality in the district of Morges in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

Geography

Mont Herod is situated on 593 m above sea level. M., 10 km west of the district capital Morges ( straight line ). The farming village extends to the plateau above the Vaud Cote, west of the deep Taleinschnitts of the river Aubonne.

Population

Since the conquest of Vaud by Bern in 1536, the village shared the fortunes of Aubonne 1701 and came to the bailiwick Aubonne. After the collapse of the ancien régime Mont Herod belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud.
