Montpeyroux, Puy-de-Dôme
Montpeyroux is a commune with 359 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Puy -de- Dôme in the Auvergne region. It belongs to the district Issoire Issoire and Canton.

Location
Montpeyroux located about 25 km ( driving distance ) south-east of Clermont- Ferrand and about 15 kilometers north- west of Issoire.

History
On the history of the small village, little is known. Only a kilometer away from the Allier River, the town and castle once dominated the valley.
Attractions
- The Tour de Montpeyroux is a powerful round fortress tower ( donjon ) from the 13th century, dominates the entire village.
- An old city gate (porte fortifiée ) stands near the tower. It was equipped in the 17th or 18th century with a clock.
- The place has to show several houses from the 16th and 17th century facades their the then mined in the quarries around natural stone.
