Monty Roberts

Monty Roberts ( born May 14, 1935 in Salinas, California as Marvin Earl Roberts) is an American author, horse breeder and former rodeo rider who has become known through a special deal with trauma and difficult horses.

Life

He was born in 1935 as son of a California horse trainer in Salinas. At the age of three years, he became acquainted with the riding, with four years he rode first tournaments. To his father he had a difficult relationship; he was often beaten and also hated the violent methods with which his father rode the horses.

Soon after the first engagements as a stunt double for Elizabeth Taylor ( in National Velvet, 1943) and other Roberts wants with the "language" of wild horses ( Mustangs ) have employed, which he (Latin: Horse) " Equus " called. In 1986, he demonstrated for the first time his Join-Up method as a guest lecturer at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. In Germany, Roberts became known for his work with Lomitas from the stud Fährhof ( at Sottrum ). Lomitas refused, after he had won as a two and three year old and a number of races at all to move in his first start in 1991, near the start box. The horse seemed so panicked that five to seven nurses could barely hold it. His racetrack career (and thus also the most financially important use as a breeding stallion) seemed to have ended. Monty Roberts Instructors

A further object of Monty Roberts is to train instructors. Solely these " Certified Instructors " are authorized and empowered to teach Monty's concepts knowledgeable. This includes the process of Join-Up.
